A Community of Grace

Grace Presbyterian is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). We are a group of passionate, energetic, engaged, and committed people driven by the desire to exalt Christ by seeing God’s grace at work in our own hearts, in our community, and in the world.

We are a community which emphasizes God’s Grace as the good news of God’s unconditional love and transforming power. The message of God’s grace in Christ will remain primary to us as it defines the very heart of who we are as a church. We are a community forged not from our own good deeds, but by the transforming Grace of God.

A Community on Mission

Our mission statement reads: “Grace Presbyterian Church is a community of broken people redeemed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. We exist to proclaim and demonstrate this good news to ourselves, to our neighbors, and the world.”

We are a community oriented around the gospel. We need Christ. We are the broken of the world. We cannot say to anyone outside the church that they need something that we don’t need. We are broken and devastated by the fall and Christ has rescued us by his perfect life, atoning death, and triumphant resurrection. We exist to continue to share this good news to our own hearts. We need the gospel as much today as when we first believed. It is also ours to take this gospel message in love to our neighbors, and ultimately to our whole world. This mission is not new, but is defined by Jesus himself in the great commission. “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

An Authentic Community

We hope that our church will be a place of restoration and hope for the broken and bruised sinner. We hope to be a church that is honest about our sin and just as honest about the hope we have in Christ. We can only do this as we believe our identity has been radically reshaped in the gospel. We no longer have to defend our righteous record, or good works, or our ability to achieve God’s favor. We can’t do any of that. We have been offered a new identity in Christ who offers us his righteous record, his perfection, his achievement on our behalf. More than that, he took the condemnation, shame, guilt, and punishment we deserved. In Jesus we have an invitation for the weary soul to find rest and we hope that our church would be a living demonstration of that rest. In Matthew 11 Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
